We’re All Human, Right?

The last time I checked—we are all human, right?  I know, I know—I am a genius. Although, I have heard rumors that there are some aliens peppered around the planet.  I’m not really sure of the source, but it’s something that sounds like the Internet.

Back to the human thing. I don’t understand how some people can’t see that tiny fact. Perhaps because a lot of us rely on the internet too much. Some people really can’t see that we are all human. We all come from the same stuff. There is even a children’s book called Everyone PoopsIf that doesn’t make it abundantly clear, then I have nowhere else to go. Do you see where I am going with this?  Me either. This took a weird turn.

We are all human and yet we are all so very different. Ironically, at the end of the day, most of us want the same thing. Equality and Love.

Let’s say someone loves truffle oil. Personally, I would rather saw my thumb off than even smell it. Unfortunately—my opinions on truffle oil are bad. I should be embarrassed. Suppose I went over to the person, minding their own business, eating truffle oil, and threatened to saw off my thumb.  Why?  Because it is disgusting!  I mean, if that person likes truffle oil,  aren’t they less of a human? NO!  Even if they enjoy the taste of something so vile?  MAYBE.  Okay, no. Are they going to stop liking truffle oil, because I threatened to saw my thumb off?  NO. They will probably just stop hanging around me.  And that’s okay, because this girl is cray. She needs to be left alone.

Another option would be to accept the fact and move on. Accept our differences. Celebrate them. We are all human and we all come from the same stuff.  It really is that simple. Everyone poops.

Do we have to talk this simply? YES.

I guess what I am getting at is stop giving energy to things that don’t serve you. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. More importantly, we are all in this together.

Racism, Sexism, Homophobia exists. It is very REAL,  but let’s put our fabulous energy into building up what serves you.  Let’s put energy into what serves us as a COMMUNITY and then as a NATION.  Let’s stand up for what is right.  Let’s not celebrate negativity by putting hate in the spotlight.

Please don’t give your energy to hate because the majority knows the difference between right and wrong. The internet is too powerful a tool to share hate.  Try not to do it.  Try to be bigger than it. We all might not have the same ideas and values, but lets try to actively cross the discrimination divide by being respectful and friendly to each other. After all, communication is the essence of community.  It may take work, but if we all do our part, we can change the world. We have to believe that. We have to BE that.

Also, don’t give energy to truffle oil because it is too stinky. Fine. Eat your truffle oil—I’ll just be over here in the other room trying not to smell it, thank you very much.  And, I love you.
